Our programmes are taught and examined in English. To make the most of your studies, you must be able to communicate fluently and accurately in spoken and written English in an academic environment and provide certified proof of your competence before starting your course.
The minimum English language requirements to study at Fife College are detailed below:
For FE Courses (FE courses are courses under SCQF level 6 such as National Certificate, Intermediate Certificate, Certificate, National Progression Award) we will ask for:
- An IELTS Test showing minimum score of 5.0 in each component, OR;
- SQA National 5 ESOL with exam grades of A, B or C, OR;
- SQA National 5/GCSE English with exam grades of A, B or C
For HE Courses (HE courses are courses at SCQF level 7 or above such as HNC, HND, Degree) we will ask for:
- An IELTS Test showing minimum score of 6.0 in each component, OR;
- SQA Higher ESOL with exam grades of A, B or C, OR;
- SQA Higher/A Level English with exam grades of A, B or C
The only exception to the above will be if you have successfully completed and achieved a qualification at a higher level to the level of course you are applying for. The qualification will need to have been awarded from one of the following awarding bodies within the UK for either College or University education:
- SQA (Scotland),
- Ofqual (England)
- QW (Wales)
- CCEA (Northern Ireland)
