By giving you an introduction to the various careers in stage, screen and sound events there are also options and progression pathways into the radio, television and corporate events.

What will I study?

  • This course will develop technical and creative skills and this will provide you with the knowledge and skills to identify opportunities for employment and further study in the creative and cultural sectors in the UK and internationally. You will develop important employability skills that will be valuable to you whether you decide to progress to further study or to seek employment.
  • You will undertake projects involving sound equipment, video recording equipment and lighting equipment. Looking at the Creative Industries in the context of your chosen career path(s) will help you choose the next stage of your development, whether employment or further study.

  • On successful completion of this Level 5 course you will be advised as to the best progression pathway into our creative courses at SCQF Level 6 or even Higher National SCQF level 7. These could be in Media and Communications, Acting and Performance, or Sound Production.

  • During this course your skills in the following areas will be developed: organising, communicating, researching, logical and analytical thinking, decision making, problem solving, co-operating with others/team working and vocational adaptability in lighting, sound, audio-visual work.
