Who is this course for?
- Individuals currently in employment and who wish to obtain a formal qualification.
- It is a requirement by the SSSC that everyone employed in this capacity should be working towards the achievement of this qualification.

- Promoting person-centred care – Ensuring dignity, respect, and individualised support in practice.
- Understanding safeguarding and protection – Recognising and responding to risks to keep individuals safe.
- Following health and safety procedures – Maintaining a safe working environment in social care settings.
What will I study?
The SVQ qualification itself is delivered as part of a continuous course that can be assessed throughout the year. You will create a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate that you have appropriate knowledge, skills and understanding to carry out your role competently in the workplace or placement.
4 mandatory units

- Support the health and safety of yourself and individuals
- Develop your knowledge and practice
- Support the safeguarding of individuals
2 optional units
- A selection of optional units will be chosen to reflect your placement/job role

What career opportunities are there?
- You can progress from the Level 2 SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF Level 6 to other appropriate SVQs up to and including Level 4.
- The progression route for you will depend on your job role and level of responsibility.
