Electric Vehicle (EV) Chargepoint Installation

We are working with Shell UK to increase the number of electricians in the country who are trained to safely design, install, and maintain domestic, small commercial EVC installations. This is through the City & Guilds Ofqual-accredited qualifications, designed in partnership with industry.

This project is supported by Shell UK, whose public EV charging network is one of the largest in the country. Shell provides access to over 35,000 public chargepoints across the UK.

Shell UK is supporting the training of electricians across the UK by co-funding the cost of this course for a number of individuals. This investment is part of Shell UK’s ambition to support 15,000 people into jobs, with a focus on energy transition by 2035.

This funding is limited, and future course dates may not be offered at the same reduced cost.

According to Zapmap, as of May 2025, there are over 1.5 million fully-electric cars on the road in the UK and EV sales represented 20.9% of all new cars registered so far 2025.

The UK Government has set a target of installing 300,000 EV chargepoints by 2030, driving an urgent need for a skilled workforce to install and maintain this rapidly expanding infrastructure.
