Advantages of employment at Fife College

We offer the following contractual benefits to our staff as part of their employment - Generous holiday entitlement (46 days per annum for support staff, and maximum 62 days per annum for academic staff), standard full time working hours of 35 per week, flexible working, 2 days paid time off for volunteering in order to support local communities, Income Protection during sick leave, generous Occupational Maternity Pay.

Each member of staff has access to the generous pension schemes, Scottish Public Pensions Agency (SPPA) for academic staff, and Local Government Pension Scheme, administered by Fife Council for support staff.

Staff can become part of Kingdom Community Bank which is a credit union. They are a local not-for-profit financial co-operative owned and controlled by their members. Savings can be deducted straight from salary which can be to save, or repay loans or both.

Staff have access to over 200 discounts available to use all year round, via our provider, Edenred. Every staff member has their own account and it is free to use. As well as their eGift card range, you will have access to online offers and SMS vouchers for some of the biggest names around. These all allow you to save money whenever you want via your phone or tablet.

Staff have the opportunity to purchase hybrid or electric vehicles as a salary sacrifice via partner company Tusker. Staff can purchase a brand new car, complete with insurance, road tax, replacement tyres, routine servicing and maintenance, as well as full breakdown cover, for a fixed monthly amount over a period of choice. The amount is taken directly from staff salary via a salary sacrifice arrangement, there are no deposits or upfront payments either.

The College offers financial support to different packages with for gym memberships. These include partnerships with Gym 64, Fife Leisure Trust and Robyn Drummond Fitness.

Staff can purchase a tax free bike, along with any related equipment (e.g. lights, helmet, waterproofs, reflective clothing, locks, and luggage carriers) via Cycle Solutions. The college then leases the bike to staff via a salary sacrifice scheme over a 18 month period.

PAM Assist is a confidential helpline, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year. Staff can use it for counselling, information and support on any issues affecting them. It focuses on preventative and holistic wellbeing across six key areas - Health, Fitness, Mind, Worklife, Nutrition and Social.

The College has an Occupational Health (OH) provision via PAM Assist that focuses on the physical and mental wellbeing of employees in the workplace. OH referrals can be arranged after discussion with the manager and HR and could consist of appointments with the following health professionals: nurse, doctor and physiotherapist.

Staff have access to a 'MyWellbeing' intranet page where it details all content and campaigns for Health and Wellbeing. This includes access to Wellbeing Festivals with hundreds of wellbeing talks/workshops/activities. It also shares information on Wellbeing Champions and the dedicated community groups for our staff.

Staff have access to the 'MyLearning' intranet page which hold everything related to staff personal development. The resources will support staff in their role, but also for roles that they may aspire to in the future. It includes calendar of events on all training scheduled, a tool to help develop digital capabilities, and access to Skillboosters Training.

All staff will have the time to discuss their professional development with their line manager on a yearly basis. This is to support them in their current role and how this aligns to the College Strategic Plan.

Staff can enrol on Fife College programmes of study and have their fee waived. Places are subject to line manager approval and infill spaces being available, i.e. that staff are not taking the place of a standard paying student.

Staff throughout the College have the opportunity to work with a coach, through the College's internal coaching service. The coaching service will support staff to get from where they are, to where they want to be. A team of internal coaches are available to help explore thoughts, focus the mind, gain new learning, realise new perspectives and achieve growth.
