Arnold Clark has presented special scholarships to six students at Fife College.

Students Ryan Marshall, Ewa Cios, Morgan Craig, Nataliia Shypunova, Harris Owen and Valentyna Rozdaibida received scholarships totalling £2,000 in recognition of their commitment to progress their careers within the areas of business, engineering and automotive.

The scholarships, awarded through Adam Smith Scholarships, part of Fife College, are to be used by the students to purchase resources or materials to support their studies.

Since 2010, Arnold Clark, the largest privately owned car retailer in Europe, has been providing scholarships at Fife College with some of the students successfully securing employment with the company after completing their studies.

This year’s scholarship recipients were presented with their awards during a special event in the vehicle workshop at the Glenrothes Campus of the College. The awards were handed out by Lynne McBurney, Group Head of People at Arnold Clark to five of the six recipients who were able to attend.

Lynne, along with her colleague Carole Anne McCann, Group Recruitment Manager, were warmly welcomed to the College by Vice Principal Dorothee Leslie. During their visit, Lynne and Carole Anne chatted with the students, learning more about their future aspirations while they also had the opportunity to meet with staff and Board Member Drew Connelly.

Electrical Engineering student Ryan Marshall, from Dunfermline, said:

"I'm overwhelmed to have been given the opportunity of this scholarship. This is a massive benefit for me in my future career and life goals."

Ewa Cios from Kirkcaldy, who is studying Business Enterprise, said:

"I'm thrilled that I received this scholarship. I intend to allocate the money towards purchasing materials."

Transport Maintenance student Morgan Craig, from Dunfermline, said:

"I am over the moon to be picked as a recipient for this scholarship and I plan to put the money towards a run-down car to do up. This is going to help me get a future job or an apprenticeship."

Lynne McBurney, Group Head of People at Arnold Clark, said:

“We are delighted to offer these scholarships to Fife College students - we hope they’ll go a long way in helping them purchase the materials and resources they need to get the most out of their studies.

“Community is one of our core values at Arnold Clark and so we are always looking for innovative ways to support local organisations.”

Lyn Gold, Scholarship and Alumni Engagement Lead at Fife College, said:

“We are very grateful to Arnold Clark for these latest scholarship awards which we know will have a positive impact on the students’ academic lives and plans for the future. Having an Arnold Clark Scholarship on their CV will help them stand out from the crowd.

“All six of this year’s winners are very deserving of their awards, we wish them well in the rest of their studies and future careers.”

Adam Smith Scholarships, part of Fife College, is one of the largest college scholarship programmes in Scotland, awarding thousands of pounds each year to support students, develop opportunities, open doors, and transform lives.
