Fife College awarded £2m Tay Cities funding to boost hospitality skills

Posted on: 28/01/26

Fife College has been awarded £2 million to deliver a major new Regional Skills and Employability Development Programme for Hospitality.

Delivered over the next four years, the project will help strengthen the hospitality workforce across the Tay Cities region, support economic growth and create new opportunities for individuals at all stages of their careers.

Funded by the Scottish Government through the Tay Cities Region Deal, the project will deliver skills training, school interventions, leadership development and career progression – all designed to widen participation, upskill existing staff and attract new entrants to the hospitality sector.

Working closely with industry partners, tertiary education, schools, community organisations and local and national government, Fife College will enhance the appeal of hospitality as a career pathway while addressing workforce challenges across the region.

The funding will also support hospitality-based activities that local groups can bid for, widening access and improving employability across the Tay Cities region.

Iain Hawker, Assistant Principal: Enterprise & Partnerships at Fife College, said:

“This investment is a powerful vote of confidence in Fife College and in the potential of the hospitality sector across the Tay Cities region.

“The funding will enable us to support those who have faced barriers to training and employment, to demonstrate the diverse career paths hospitality offers to young people and career-changers, and to collaborate with employers to strengthen leadership and skills across the region.”

“By bringing communities, schools and industry together, we can create sustainable careers, support local businesses and help drive economic growth across the region.

“We are grateful to the Tay Cities Region for their partnership and look forward to delivering meaningful impact over the coming years.”

Fife College will officially launch the project at a stakeholder event on Tuesday, 3rd February 2026.
