My story
After moving to Scotland in 2010 from Slovakia, I found myself working at Fife College. I initially completed a modern apprenticeship with the College and worked in the Principal’s Office providing administrative support to the Executive Team.
I went on to study HNC in Administration and Information Technology and considered whether to continue to do the HND. To be honest, I was bit worried if I should progress as it was not easy to study and work at the same time, but I’m so glad I did and was proud to graduate. The course especially helped me to advance my Microsoft Office skills, which is great as I use those daily.
Thanks to this qualification I have been able to progress my career. I have recently changed role within the College and moved to the Governance and Compliance Team. There is still a lot of new things for me to learn so my goal for the future is to deepen my knowledge and progress my skills.
My advice to any new student would be, don’t be afraid to ask questions. You might feel embarrassed to be the one to raise your hand when unsure about something, but this is the right place to ask questions, everyone is friendly and very happy to help.
