Modern Apprentice Leah Stewart became the first female from Scotland to be named ‘BMI Redland Apprentice of the Year’, a prestigious UK-wide award, whilst with Fife College. Leah’s achievements as a Modern Apprentice are a great example of the excellent opportunities available to those pursuing an MA career path.
Leah balances her time between studying at Fife College and gaining practical experience with her employer, Roof & Fibre. During her apprenticeship, Leah has honed her skills and showcased her talents. And it was those exemplary skills and versatility which impressed the judges, allowing her to outperform 20 fellow apprentices from across the UK and earn the title of ‘BMI Redland Apprentice of the Year’. This achievement marked her as the first female from Scotland to win this award and continued a winning streak for Fife College, following in the footsteps of previous winner Euan Forsyth.
Leah reflected on the support that paved the way for her success, saying, "My employer, Roof & Fibre, and the lecturers at Fife College provided invaluable support throughout my journey, as did the team at BMI Redland, who organised such an outstanding event. The competition was an incredible experience, and I was genuinely impressed by the skill and dedication of my fellow contestants. Winning this award is a tremendous honour and has only deepened my passion for roofing. I’m excited about the amazing opportunities this may bring for my future and am eager to continue growing in this industry."
