My name is Neil, I am 23 years old and started my Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering Technical Support with Harland and Wolff in 2021. After leaving School at the end of 4th year I attended 3 years at Fife College and 1 final year at Lanarkshire to complete an HND in Computer Aided Draughting and Design. I completed my HND just as COVID started and after working briefly with another employer I was successful in gaining an apprenticeship in my chosen field.
I currently work in a drawing office producing structural drawings and lift plan for completed assemblies. My goal for the future is to become Lead Draftsman and lead a team and this apprenticeship is giving me the experience, skills and knowledge to pursue those goals. I learn on the job with the support of Fife College who monitor and assess my progress throughout the duration of my apprenticeship.
I would recommend studying or doing an apprenticeship with Fife College. I have done both and can honestly say that the guidance and support provided by Fife College is exceptional.
