Funding for full-time further education (FE) 

You can find below all of the student funding information required if you will be studying a full-time Further Education (FE) course. An FE (or non-advanced) course is any course below at HNC Level (or SCQF Level 7). 

 

Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) 

Education Maintenance Allowances (EMA) is available if you are under the age of 18 on the start date of your course. If you are awarded an EMA, you will be eligible for £30 per week which is paid into your chosen bank account.

Childcare 

The Childcare fund is available for assistance towards childcare costs. 

  • The amount awarded will be dependent on household income.
  • Childcare will only be paid for timetabled hours – including mandatory placements – it won’t include study days.
  • You will be responsible for any costs that are not met by the College.

Bursaries 

Bursary Maintenance Awards may be available for students aged 18 years (unless they are Care Experience) or over on the date your course starts. The amount awarded will depend on your circumstances.  

If you are currently in receipt of benefits, you must inform the relevant benefit agency, (i.e. Department of Work & Pensions) that you will be a full time student. The benefits you receive while you are a student will determine what funding is available to you.

Rent and Mortgage Interest 

This fund is based on household income, therefore not all students who apply for assistance with Rent/Mortgage Interest will be eligible to receive support towards their claim.
